The Workshop/ Power Building

This 16' x 20' building is about 150' south of the main house and contains the solar power inverter, the battery bank, the water system pressure pump, and pressure tank.  From here the water and power is routed 3' under ground 150' to the main house, 350' to the "Barn" and 60' to the exercise/crafts studio.

In addition to the covered parking on the left, the back and the right side are enclosed for out of the weather ATV parking, the propane fueled auto-start back up generator, and other equipment storage. There are three owned propane tanks on the property, not leased, so that propane can be purchased from any supplier at the lowest cost.  There is a 120 gal. propane tank at the "Barn", a 120 gal. tank at the exercise/crafts studio, and a 500 gal. tank for the Main House.

The Zantrax 5548 power inverter. 48 Volts DC in with 5500 watts of 120 volts AC out.  A 120-to-240 VAC transformer provides the correct power for the well.   The battery bank is on the right.

24-2 Volt L-16 size batteries wired in series to give 48 volts into the inverter. With the batteries up off the ground, they are very easy to maintain.

The 8 KW propane fueled auto-start generator is out of the weather in the enclosure on the right of the Workshop/Power building.  The generator automaticaly starts and runs for 14 minutes once a week so that it is always at the ready.
The 100 lb. propane tank on the right will easily run the generator 20-25 hours.  Less than 10 Gallons of Propane are used each year for its weekly self check running. In the last two years, the generator ran about 4 hours because of snow on the solar panels for 4 days.
